Most lighting resellers hold a shelf of what they bought last season. We work differently. Decades of supplier relationships mean our suppliers' warehouses are our stockholding: the full current range of every brand we represent, drawn on demand, never stale, never substituted for what happens to be in the back room. Bernard Kleynhans
Lighting Specialist & Designer · 30+ years
Design and manufacture. Bernard has spent more than three decades on every side of the lighting process. He began in manufacturing in the early 1990s and has worked through concept, engineering, specification, production and delivery ever since. That means he knows what is technically and commercially achievable before it goes on a drawing: which fitting will actually perform in that atrium, what a manufacturer can genuinely build, where a specification is over- or under-engineered.
His career spans commercial, retail, hospitality and architectural projects across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, including work for Pick n Pay, OK Stores, Ackermans, FNB and the University of Cape Town, one of South Africa's landmark early LED installations, and projects recognised for excellence in sustainability and green building. He treats lighting as both technical discipline and creative art: architecture, atmosphere, performance, efficiency and long-term value, held in balance.

Robin Smith
Supply, Sourcing & Relationships · 43 years
Supply and relationships. Robin has spent 43 years in professional lighting, more than 25 of them as owner and CEO of lighting businesses, working alongside South Africa's leading property developers, electrical engineers, architects and designers. Those relationships, built across four decades of delivered projects, are the reason our supplier-direct model works: known counterparties, priority answers, honest availability, and sourcing lines into Europe, China and India when the standard ranges aren't enough.
Projects he has supplied over his career include the V&A Waterfront Shopping Centre, Old Mutual Head Office, the Vineyard Hotel, Wynberg Military Hospital, Sanlam offices, N1 City and the Cullinan Hotel, alongside listed companies, hotels, shopping centres, data facilities and major residential developments. His focus has never changed: lighting that meets the technical, aesthetic and commercial requirements of each project, every time.

Technology, operations and scale. Entrepreneur and former prop-tech CEO, Crispin builds proprietary technology for traditionally non-technical sectors. At Project Lighting the technology is never the point. It works quietly behind the team and the client experience, and it exists to do one thing well: scale two lifetimes of lighting knowledge, so that depth is accessible to every project, every client, every time.
