Choosing chandeliers
Size the chandelier to the space. A common guide is to add the room's length and width in metres and use that figure in centimetres as a starting diameter. Over a dining table, a chandelier is usually narrower than the table itself. Check the overall height and adjustable drop on each product page against the ceiling height, particularly in double-volume spaces. Most chandeliers take separate lamps, often E14 candle lamps, so check the base type and maximum wattage. A warm white (around 2700K), and dimmable lamps with a compatible dimmer, give the most flexibility. Heavier fittings need secure ceiling fixing, so check the weight where it is listed.
