Choosing lighting control gear

Match control gear to the lamps it will run. LED loads generally need a dimmer designed for LED, often trailing-edge, and the total load should sit within the dimmer's rated range. Electronic transformers for 12V lamps must suit the lamp wattage and be LED-compatible where LED lamps are used. Emergency conversion kits add battery backup to existing fittings.
