Choosing pendant lights
Height and spacing make a pendant work. Over a dining table or kitchen island, hang pendants so they light the surface without blocking views across the room, and check the cable or drop length listed on each product page. Over long islands, two or three matching pendants usually read better than one oversized fitting. Shade material shapes the light. Opal and frosted glass give soft, diffused light, while metal shades direct light downward for task lighting. Many pendants take a separate lamp, so check the base type and maximum wattage. Warm white lamps (around 2700–3000K) suit dining and hospitality settings. For double-volume spaces, confirm the maximum drop before ordering.
